SALT: Fermentation and Anti-Fascist Living

15 September–8 December 2025

The theme for this first season of SALT is Fermentation and Anti-Fascist Living. We explore fermentation as an alchemical and political practice that breaks down dominant structures and nourishes anti-fascist, relational ways of living. Fascism is a violent ideology and movement that thrives on purity, sterilization, and control, erasing difference and complexity. Fermentation offers another path—it is wild, messy, and complex, relying on diversity, collaboration, and transformation.

We will explore these questions:
What feeds fascism in our societies and ourselves?
And what practices—wild fermentation, relational work, compost—can sustain us in the struggle for anti-fascist living?

The work does not stop in our kitchens and individual bodies, rather becoming a micro-level practice ground for scaling up to other ways of working with our differences on the streets, in governments, corporations and global economic structures. As always, the personal is political, and the micro reflects the macro.
