“re” speaks to composting, reimagining, rehearsing, re-membering, relearning, reworlding —and repeating, again and again, until we get it right, which may never happen, at least not in our lifetimes. Our artistic projects are rehearsals, rehearsing solidarity as well as other ways of living that align with the worlds we know are possible. Our courses aim to support us in growing the ‘re’ of response-abilities, reminding us to respond in ways that don’t replicate harm. We use the metaphor and practice of composting to gesture toward (com)post-capitalism, post-activism, and post-extractivism, creating fertile ground for new possibilities to take root.
“schooling” is for us an un/learning community —a school of fish, moving in relation, sensing and orienting together. Our work involves unlearning the extractive, colonial logics inscribed in our bodies, and relearning relationally with the living world. Our pedagogical work proposes a different “schooling”, one that moves away from institutional, traditional, hierarchical structures, towards embodied, playful, liberatory co-learning spaces.
“with” is a principle of relationality and solidarity. For us, solidarity is not about “doing for,” but about being-with, resisting alongside affected communities in shared yet differentiated struggle. “with” challenges individualistic and extractive habits of taking knowledge from, rather than learning with. We unlearn, rehearse, and relearn with all living forms —material and immaterial, visible and invisible —always refusing separation.
